ARTICLE XI

Section 1 - Starting Date

1.1 The first day of practice is determined by the Section.

Section 2 - Official Rules

2.1 The official rule book shall be the National Federation of State High School Association rule book.

Section 3 - Official Ball

3.1 A high quality eighteen panel white leather ball shall be used in league play.
3.2 Any ball used in competition must have the NFSHSA stamp on it.

Section 4 - Contacts

4.1 The number of contacts allowed is determined by the Section.

4.1.1 The Sac Joaquin Section authorizes one additional varsity game. This game, designated the “Foundation Game”, shall be played on a specific date determined by the section. Half the proceeds from these games shall be remitted to the Section to fund their scholarship foundation.
4.2 A maximum of three (3) tournaments will be allowed.
4.3 A maximum of two scrimmages is permissible prior to the first game. Scrimmages held after the first game shall be counted as a contact.

Section 5 - Game Times

5.1 Game Times as follows:
Freshman 4:00
Frosh/Soph 20 minutes after Frosh game or
If there is no Freshman game: 5:00
Varsity 20 minutes after the Frosh /Soph

Section 6 - Game Results

6.1 The winning school shall be responsible to notify the media with game results.
6.2 The home school shall be responsible to notify the sports coordinator with game results.

Section 7 - Change in Classification

7.1 During pre-league games athletes may move from one classification to another. In league play a player may move only to a higher classification. An athlete may not participate in more than one classification in one day.

Section 8 - Schedule and Roster Exchange
8.1 A meeting shall be called by the sports coordinator no later than one week prior to the start of league play.
8.1.1 Rosters of all school teams shall be exchanged by the coaches at this meeting. Information to include players name, jersey number and year in school.
8.1.2 Complete season schedules shall be exchanged by the coaches at this meeting.
8.2 Failure of a coach to submit a roster will result in forfeiture of all games played until the roster is turned into the sports coordinator.

Section 9 - Championship

9.1 The varsity team with the greatest number of wins in league competition shall be designated as League Champion. In the event of a tie, all teams tied for the best records shall be recognized as League Champions . No champion will be recognized below the varsity level.

Section 10 - Playoffs

10.1 The teams qualifying for participation in the playoff will be determined by the Section on the basis of power ratings.

Section 11 - Miscellaneous - Activity Specific

11.1 Bleachers will be set up on only one side, unless the number of spectators requires both sides. Chairs for a team areas shall be set up on the side opposite of the bleachers.
11.2 The home school shall provide two (2) line judges for every match who are competent and trained.
11.3 Freshman and Frosh/Soph will play two (2) out of three (3) games, Varsity will play three (3) out of five (5) games
11.4 Warm up before frosh/soph and varsity games will be 20 minutes and shall be divided into sessions as follows:
7 minutes - shared court
5 minutes - serving team
5 minutes - receiving team
2 minutes - serving - shared court

Section 12 - All Conference Selection

12.1The volleyball representative shall call a meeting for Monday evening following the completion of the league season to select the All-Conference team.

12.1.1 Coaches shall be informed of the meeting, time and location at least a week in advance. Notification shall be by phone or Email.

12.2. Coaches may nominate players in accordance to the place they finished in league competition. Following is the number of nominations:

12.2.1 Coaches may vote for their own players.

12.3 Twelve (12) players, including one (1) MVP, will be selected.

12.4 Using an open ballot, coaches shall rank twelve (12) opponent players with twelve(12) being the number of points given the highest ranked player.

12.5 In case of a tie for the twelfth (12th) spot, those involved in the tie shall be ranked by the coaches and only one named to complete the approved total.

12.6 A second ballot shall be taken to name the MVP. Each school shall have one vote to name the MVP from those selected to be on the All-Conference team. A school may vote for its candidate. Only one (1) MVP shall be named.

12.7 Any player nominated and not selected to the all conference team shall be named “Honorable Mention”.

12.8 Total Awards: Twelve (12) Type of Award: Patch and certificate
12.9 All conference selections shall be forwarded to the league commissioner for distribution to the media.
12.10 No all conference team shall be selected below the varsity level.
