NEW BUSINESS
The change in Cross County of the first two meet dates because of construction at Renfree Park was noted.
We have two different weeks where a Spring Break will be observed by member schools. These dates are:
March 17-21 - River City, Center & West Campus
March 24-28 - Rio Linda, Foothill & Dixon
A request from Baseball the baseball coaches to modify the league schedule was approved by the Athletic Directors and will be forwarded to the Athletic Board for final approval. The change recognizes the week where local Easter tournaments are played.
Athletic Directors wanted to review the other league schedules to see if the placement of the spring break would impact their tournaments. The following schedules will be reviewed and brought to the October Athletic Board Meeting if a change is required.
Track John Gallagher
Softball Tom Crumpacker
Soccer Bob Eason
Tennis Shar Ghio
Shar Ghio reported she would be submitting a request to modify the swimming schedule at the October meeting.
A long discussion about the Football Schedule for 2008 & 09 resulted in the following decisions.
A. Since we would be adding at least one new school to our league, coupled with the fact that the TCC no longer wanted a crossover game agreement, we agreed we would not seek a conference solution to scheduling non league games. Each school would do their own non-conference schedule themselves.
B. Since Antelope would probably be the new school added to the league, they felt it would be better for the league as a whole that they not be included in the football schedule until they could field a varsity team. They would create their own schedule.
C. If a second team were to be added to the league, they too would be expected to schedule their own games until they could field a varsity.
D. Teams that will field varsity teams will schedule their own games. Five games for 2008 & 3 games for 2009. The league may schedule non-league games within the conference in games 4 & 5 and possibly request zero week games.
