CAPITAL VALLEY CONFERENCE MINUTES ATHLETIC BOARD MEETING Tuesday - October 9, 2007 CALL TO ORDER Meeting called to order at 8:45 AM ATTENDANCE COMMISSIONER: Al Hooker ADMINISTRATOR ATHLETIC DIRECTOR Center: Steve Thiessen Bob Eason & John Gallagher Dixon: Ivan Chaidez Foothill:Larry Tosta Bill Lum Rio Linda:Rusty Clark Mike Morris & Terry Ray River City: Jamie King & Shar Ghio West Campus: Rob Richards MINUTES The minutes of the August Athletic Board minutes as posted on the league web site were approved. FINANCIAL REPORT The financial report was given by Al Hooker, which showed an October balance of $8, 715.59. PUBLIC COMMENT No members of the public were present. CONSENT CALENDAR A schedule submitted by the baseball coaches and approved by the Athletic Directors was approved. OLD BUSINESS A discussion about the addition of a new school in the league and its effect upon the football schedule was held. Note: At a meeting held at the Section office simultaneously with our Athletic Board Meeting, it was decided that Antelope High School will be added to the league for the next two years. It was further decided that Antelope will not be included in the football schedule for the next two years. With that decision comes a waiver to allow Antelope to schedule CVC teams on Saturday or Monday, playing varsity players who played very little in the varsity game on Friday night. A five game league schedule for the next two years will be developed by Mike Morris. Schools will be responsible for scheduling their own non league games. NEW BUSINESS A discussion about playing sub varsity games without officials was held. Larry Tosta was directed to voice our league’s concern about the spiraling cost of officials at the October Board of Managers Meeting. No decision was made, however the topic may be revisited. Schedules for golf and track were submitted and approved. A review of Spring Sports: Center all sports Dixon all sports Foothill all sports with the possible exception of golf Rio Linda all sports plus boys VB & Rugby River City all sports with golf being unlikely. May play boys VB West Campus all Sports except golf. Track is questionable at this time SECTION & STATE ITEMS A discussion of the undue influence charges against Franklin High School SITUATIONS & RULINGS West Campus - Foothill Volleyball - Protest pending OTHER ITEMS There was a consensus that there is no need to review the league admission prices at this time. MODEL COACH NOMINATIONS Debbie Chandler of Rio Linda was selected as the female coach, Drew Hibbs of Foothill as the male coach. Rio Linda and Foothill AD’s will submit the section forms and supporting back up materials to the league commissioner for forwarding to the Section.
