ARTICLE IV

Section 1 - Starting Date

1.1 The first day of practice is determined by the Section.

Section 2 - Official Rules

2.1 The official rule book shall be the United States Golf Association Rule Book.

Section 3 - Official Ball

3.1 The official ball shall be any ball conforming to USGA specifications.

Section 4 - Contacts

4.1 The number of contacts allowed is determined by the Section.

Section 5 - Game Times

5.1 During Standard Time - 3:30
During Day Light Saving Time - 4:00
Boys League Tournaments - 1:00
Girls League Tournament - 11:00

Section 6 - Game Results

6.1 The winning school shall be responsible to notify the media with game results.

Section 7 - Schedule and Roster Exchange

7.1 A meeting shall be called by the sports coordinator no later than one week prior to the start of league play.
7.1.1 Rosters of all school teams shall be exchanged by the coaches at this meeting. Information to include players name, jersey and year in school. 7.1.2 Complete season schedules shall be exchanged by the coaches at this meeting
7.2 Failure of a coach to submit a roster will result in forfeiture of all games played until the roster is turned into the sports coordinator.

Section 8 - Championship

8.1 Teams will earn two (2) points for every dual meet win and two (2) points for every team they beat in the league tournaments and one (1) point for a tie. The League championship will be awarded to the team who finishes the year with the most points.
8.2 In the event of a tie for the most points, co-championship will be declared and duplicate awards presented.

Section 9 - Playoffs

9.1 The teams with the highest number of points in championship play will qualify for the Section Playoffs.
9.2 Team Tie Breakers - If more teams are tied than qualifying berths available at the conclusion of the final league tournament the following process will be used to determine the qualifiers. The process only involves the teams that are tied in league championship points and does not change the standings in any way. If a team qualifies by taking first and the tie is for second place, the tie breaker does not apply to first place.
9.2.1 First tie breaker: Add the score of the sixth person in the final league tournament to the total team score of the tournament.
9.2.2 Second tie breaker: If still tied, a six person sudden death playoff will be held among those tied for the last berth.
9.2.2.1 After each hole the total number of strokes for the five lowest players will be added, with the lowest to qualify.
9.3.2.2 If still tied add score of sixth person. 9.2.2.2 If still tied play another hole.
9.2.3 If teams leave the course before a tie breaker can be implemented, they shall be disqualified from participating in the playoffs.
9.3 Individual Tie Breaker
9.3.1 A sudden death format shall be used.

Section 10- Conduct

10.1 Unsportsmanlike Conduct
10.1.1 Includes use of profanity, club throwing or other unacceptable behavior.
10.1.1.2 First offense, warning, second offense (same day) ejection.
10.1.2 Cheating or fighting
10.1.2.1 Automatic ejection
10.2 Other conduct
10.2.1 Dress code violation, course abuse, slow play or other violations of USGA rules. Penalty: 1st warning, 2nd disqualification
10.2.2 Missed tee time, Signing or attesting to an inaccurate score card Penalty: disqualification
10.3 If a player is ejected, they may not participate in the next match. (See Article VII, Section 2.1 of CVC Constitution).
10.4 A player who is disqualified may participate in the next match.

Section 11 - Dual Match and League Tournaments

11.1 Dual matches will be nine holes. League tournaments shall be 18 holes. Matches will be scored using a medal play rules.
11.2 Teams shall be checked in and report to the first tee fifteen (15) minutes before starting time.
11.3 Teams will consist of six (6) players. Only the best five (5) scores will be counted.
11.4 Boys shall use the white or middle tees for the first round of dual meets and the blue or back tees for the second round of dual meets. The blue or back tees shall be used for league tournaments.
11.5 Girls shall use the red of forward tees for both rounds and the league tournaments.
11.6 Boys will play winter rules the first half of the dual meets season. Summer rules will be used for the second half.
11.7 Girls will play summer rules their entire season.
11.8 Pace of play is important. Players should play ready golf anytime they have fallen behind the group ahead of them.
11.9 Rained out matches shall be rescheduled as soon as starting times are available. If matches can not be made up before the final league tournament, scores posted in the first nine holes shall be used to determine dual meet winners.
11.9.1 If possible cancellations due to inclement weather should be made by the home coach by 12:00 Noon.
11.10 The host coach shall be responsible for explaining any “local rules” prior to the start of each match.
11.11 Players are not permitted to use pull carts or caddies, unless a verified permanent handicap exists.
11.12 If a ruling is in question, players shall play a second ball. A ruling shall be made at the conclusion of the match by the coaches in accordance with USGA rules. All disputes are to be settled before notifying the media with results.

Section 12 - Dress Code

12.1 Jeans may not be worn at any match.
12.2 Hemmed walking shorts are permitted, no cut offs or short shorts.
12.3 All participants must wear a collared shirt. No pictures, offensive language or symbols permitted.
12.4 Shirts must be worn at all times and must be tucked in.
12.5 If hats are worn they must be worn properly and contain no offensive language, pictures, slogans or symbols. No gang graffiti or any other modification may be made.
12.6 Participants may be disqualified for violation of dress code regulations. (See Section 10.2.1)

Section 13 - All Conference Selection

13.1 The seven (7) with the lowest number of points scored during the dual meet schedule and both tournaments shall be selected to the all-conference team. The player with the fewest points shall be named MVP.
13.1.1 If a tie exists for MVP coaches shall break the tie with a vote. Coaches are not permitted to vote for their own player.
13.1.2 In dual meets, the top five (5) contestants are ranked. They receive a point total equal to the place the finished (i.e. fifth place receives 5 points).
13.1.2.1 The sixth place person with the lowest score receives eleven points. The other sixth place receives twelve points. Anyone not playing, or is disqualified or ejected receives thirteen points.
13.1.3 In the league tournaments each competitor receives 2 points times the place they finished. (i.e. 23rd place receives 46 points).
13.1.4 Any one who does not play in a tournament, receives 2 points more than the last finisher.
13.1.5 A player disqualified or ejected from a tournament receives 4 points more than last place.
13.2 Total Awards: Seven (7) Type of Award: Patch and certificate
13.3 All conference selections shall be forwarded to the league commissioner for distribution to the media.
13.4 No all conference team shall be selected below the varsity level.

Section 14 - Miscellaneous - Activity Specific

14.1 Golf coaches are to instruct and supervise during league matches. Coaches may not play unless they are a part of a student threesome or foursome. If coaches choose not to play, they are to supervise the play on the course.
