ARTICLE II

Section 1 - Starting Date

1.1 The first day of practice will be determined by the Section.

1.2 Practices are not permitted on Sunday or Christmas Day.

Section 2 - Official Rules

2.1 The official rule book shall be the National Federation of State High School Association rule book.

Section 3 - Official Ball

3.1 Any regulation high grade leather covered basketball may be used in league play.

Section 4 - Contacts

4.1 The number of contacts allowed is determined by the Section.

4.1.1 The Sac Joaquin Section authorizes each varsity one additional game. This game, designated the “Foundation Game”, shall be played on a specific date determined by the section. Half the proceeds from these games shall be remitted to the Section to fund their scholarship foundation.
4.2 A maximum of three (3) tournaments will be allowed.
4.3 A maximum of two scrimmages is permissible prior to the first game. Scrimmages held after the first game shall be counted as a contact.

Section 5 - Game Times

5.1 Boys and girls teams will play three (3) games each date. Starting times shall be the same for mid-week and Friday games.

Sophomore 5:30
Varsity 7:00 PM
Warm up for first game: 20 Minutes
Warm up between game: 15 Minutes



Section 6 - Game Results

6.1 The wining school shall be responsible to notify the media with game results.

Section 7 - Change in Classification

7.1 During pre-league games athletes may move from one classification to another.
7.2 In league play, once a player moves to a higher classification they may not drop to a lower classification.
7.3 An athlete may not participate in more than one classification in one day.

Section 8 - Schedule and Roster Exchange

8.1 A meeting shall be called by the sports coordinator no later than one week prior to the start of league play.
8.1.1 Rosters of all school teams shall be exchanged by the coaches at this meeting. Information to include players name, jersey number and year in school.
8.1.2 Complete season schedules shall be exchanged by the coaches at this meeting
8.2 Failure of a coach to submit a roster will result in forfeiture of all games played until the roster is turned into the sports coordinator.

Section 9 - Supplementary Personnel

9.1 Qualified persons shall keep the scorebook and operate the time clock at all basketball games.
9.1.1 The qualified person must be an adult for varsity games.

Section 10 - Championship

10.1 The varsity team with the greatest number of wins in league competition shall be designated as League Champion. In the event of a tie, all teams tied for the best records shall be recognized as League Champions. No champion below the varsity level will be recognized.

Section 11 - Playoffs

11.1 The method and number of teams qualifying for the playoffs will be determined by the Section.

Section 12 - Miscellaneous - Activity Specific

12.1 Rooting sections shall be located on opposite sides of the playing court for boys games and when appropriate for girls games.
12.2 Artificial noisemakers shall not be used at any basketball game.
12.2.1 To include mechanical noisemakers, air horns, musical instruments, blocks, or any other instrument or device.
12.3 Videotaping or filming of basketball games by representatives of non-participating schools shall be prohibited

Section 13 - All Conference Selection

13.1 The basketball representative shall call a meeting for Monday evening following the completion of the league season to nominate, discuss and select members of the All-Conference team.
13.1.1 Coaches shall be informed of the meeting, time and location at least a week in advance. Notification shall be by phone or Email.

13.2. The sports coordinator shall send out nomination forms to the head coach of each member school at least ten days prior to the scheduled meeting.
13.2.1 Coaches may nominate players in accordance to the place they finished in league competition. Following is the number of nominations:

13.2.2 Nomination forms must be received by the sports coordinator three days prior to the meeting.
13.2.3 Coaches may not vote for their own players.
13.3 Ten (10) players, including one (1) MVP, will be selected.
13.4 Using an open ballot, coaches shall rank ten (10) opponent players with ten (10) being the number of points given the highest ranked player.
13.5 In case of a tie for the tenth (10th) spot, those involved in the tie shall be ranked by the coaches and only one named to complete the approved total.
13.6 A second ballot shall be taken to name the MVP. Each school shall have one vote to name the MVP from those selected to be on the All-Conference team. A school may vote for its candidate. Only one (1) MVP shall be named. Revised: April 19, 2007
13.7 Any player nominated and not selected to the all conference team shall be named “Honorable Mention”. Revised: May 13, 2003
13.8 Total Awards: Ten (10) boys Ten (10) girls Type of Award: Patch and certificate
13.9 All conference selections shall be forwarded to the league commissioner for distribution to the media.
13.10 No all conference team shall be selected below the varsity level.
